Ask NRICH is a free online maths discussion forum within the NRICH maths website, which provides resources for school students and their teachers. It is a lively e-community which helps users of all ages to work out solutions to their mathematical questions.
The Ask NRICH volunteer team takes the lead in responding to the questions asked in the forum. We’re not an “answers” site: we prefer to draw people into a dialogue, and help them to work out the answers for themselves. We help students working on school homework, STEP preparation, maths challenges and Olympiads, and some who are studying maths independently as adults.
New team members are invited to a short training session, where they can learn more about best practice in responding to questions, as well as the practicalities of using the forum. After joining, team members pop into the forum at times that suit them, and respond to those questions they feel they can best help with. Currently, team members must be Cambridge University students when they
join. This is largely for practical reasons.
