Welcome to the April edition of NRICH.

As usual, the March problems are staying open for solution throughout April.

Often when we want to generalise, we look at several cases first in order to spot a pattern.

Sometimes it is possible to state what is general by perceiving the structure (and not just the 'data') in just one example. Vivid proofs of generalisations can be located in a particular, well-chosen example.

This month we have worked with Tim Rowland to create problems where such generic examples can be found, and we invite you to explore and notice what is generalisable.
