&lt;strong&gt;Primary Mathematics Leaders Day 2 on 23 November 2012&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
This engaging and stimulating day is for MaST graduates and students plus Mathematics Subject Leaders in school. It is part of the NRICH Leading Learning: Inspiring Learners series. The first in this series was held on June 19 with a repeat on September 19 as it was so popular.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
This day is suitable for those who attended Day 1 and also stands alone for those who are new to the series. There are just 50 places available.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;Aim: &lt;/strong&gt;              To support MaST teachers and Mathematics Leaders in nurturing&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
                       confident, resourceful and enthusiastic teachers and learners of mathematics&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
                       in their schools. &lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;About the day:&lt;/strong&gt; The day is a mix of plenary speaker sessions, group discussion and workshops. The day will be highly interactive and will respond to the issues and concerns identified by delegates.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
• Be inspired about how to develop rich mathematical learning across your school.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
• Enrich and extend your mathematics provision.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
• Consider the implications of research findings on children’s mathematical learning.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
• Come away with strategies to support you in developing mathematical classrooms of enquiry and challenge.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Speakers:&lt;/strong&gt; The NRICH Primary Team at the University of Cambridge: Lynne McClure and Jennie Pennant. The team are primary mathematics and leadership specialists who are committed to enriching the experience of the mathematics curriculum for all learners.                                The Mathematical Needs of Learners&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
This keynote is based on the ACME report ‘Mathematical Needs: the mathematical needs of learners’. Please bring an electronic or paper version with you to the session. It looks at the provision children need in school to support them in becoming independent, confident and capable mathematicians. It also looks at the implications for your school setting and considers strategies that encourage
high-quality learning and teaching across whole schools.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;

This keynote builds on the NRICH article ‘Using Dice games in the classroom&amp;#39;. Please bring an electronic or paper version with you. This keynote looks at how we can use rich tasks to help us understand the children’s emergent mathematical thinking. This helps us plan next steps in the classroom that have the potential to develop meaningful learning.&lt;br&gt;&lt;/br&gt;
