2 Rings
This is a simplified version of 3 Rings from March 1999. This
problem provides a great environment for the discussion of the
meaning of the words of relative positions for example touching,
overlapping (some children have added "underlapping"), inside and
outside. You may decide to use real rings (perhaps wooden or
plastic), or you could ask children to make some rings as part of
the task, maybe out of pipe cleaners. There might well be a
discussion about these two pairs and whether any are the same or
different, and WHY. (pic Pairs.jpg)
those were the notes
With these two changeable-size circles I think there are basically
these arrangements;

I think that these are all.
In order I would describe them as;
NOT TOUCHING or SEPARATE
TOUCHING
OVER-LAPPING
Blue INSIDE Red and TOUCHING
Blue INSIDE Red
Red INSIDE Blue and TOUCHING
Red INSIDE Blue.
