Activity 4 ( Speed, Distance, Time . . . and graphs )

Walk At . . . ( student worksheet )

Walk - Don't Walk

Speed, Distance & Time Problems from the NRICH site ( student workshee t )

Activity 5 ( Plasticine Boats and other Volume Problems )

Make a boat from 40g of Plasticine and see how many pennies you can make float

Volume Problems from the NRICH site (student worksheet )

Activity 3 ( Going Geometric)

Four Coins or Keep Your Distance

Activity XX The Red Spot Challenge

Here's the Red Spot Excel file

And here's the First Challenge :

There are five sets of buttons. In each set the buttons control 4 numbers.

Click some buttons to see what happens.

The numbers define a line. There are two coordinates for each end of a line.

Set all the coordinates to zero, and then enter the values in the screen shot above.

You now have two sides of the letter A . Can you add a third line for the cross bar ?

What are the coordinates for the top point of the letter A ?

You can have up to five lines showing, but if you don't want a line at any time just set all four coordinates to zero and it shrinks to the origin (0,0).

In the RED Spot game you are trying to make letters of the alphabet.

Start anywhere you like : maybe with the letters of your name

You score a point for every letter you can do.

Plus an extra point for each line in a letter that goes through any Red Spot

You can have up to three red spots.

Challenge someone else. Or if you are working by yourself get some practice in, ready for when you can challenge someone.

Invent some rules of your own : perhaps make up rules about how you take turns, what lines you can move and by how much.

Be inventive - it's your game ! Have fun !

Here's all that as a Word doc file

Activity 6 ( Excel with Excel and Spinners )

Inserting Increment Buttons ( help sheet )

Making the Up & Down Game ( student worksheet )

To follow those instructions you need to have on view these two other (simpler) versions of the Excel file : Up & Down Game (structure 1 ) Up & Down Game (structure 2 )

Activity YY - Card Tricks

Card Trick 1

The Best Card Trick Ever!

The Amazing Card Trick we've already met but can you explain this trick? hmm . . .

Activity ZZ - The Pegboard Interactivity

Below are four problems to go after, each has its own pegboard, but if you just want the pegboard by itself here's a direct link - Virtual Pegboard
